Cleared for Take-Off at MROC
In the 2015 Jurassic World movie, Juan Santamaría International Airport (MROC) is mentioned as a transit point for traveling to Isla Nublar, and Zach and Grey are seen boarding the ferry “MV Nublar” from a pier somewhere on the Costa Rican coast.
The MSFS2024 default MROC airport is rather inaccurate and we’ve upgraded it significantly, including a new main terminal, many other custom buildings, more accurate gate assignments and ground markings, as well as apron and taxiway alignments. It also features a Jurassic World branded VIP terminal on the northwestern apron – an unoccupied site at the real airport – from which wealthy visitors can embark onto helicopters or private jets.
Interestingly, Juan Santamaría International Airport is located in central Costa Rica, about 40 miles from the Pacific Coast, and it’s not revealed in the movie what transport options are available from there to the coast.
Choose Your Path to Jurassic World: ARCHIPELAGO
We selected Herradura Bay Marina as the location of the Jurassic World mainland ferry terminal. It is located about 120 nautical miles due east of Isla Nublar and has a pier suitable for a ferry the size of “MV Nublar”. There’s a helipad next to the marina and we’ve added another VIP terminal for park visitors that arrive via helicopter from MROC airport and continue on the ferry; or perhaps have arrived by road at the marina to take a helicopter to Isla Nublar.
The corresponding arrival points on Isla Nublar are the ferry terminal at its southern tip, a VIP terminal at the nearby main airport (JWN1), or one of the helipads at the main park (JWNE Command Center and JWNF Security Complex).
Or, if you fondly remember the Jurassic Park movie’s arrival scene, approach the island from its northwestern shore, head inland at the prominent offshore rock, and follow the narrow valley east, tracking the dirt road to its end at the famous Jurassic Falls helipad.
