Crafted from Film, Concept, and Legacy
Our main goal was to faithfully recreate the island’s terrain, buildings, and infrastructure as it is shown in the 2015 Jurassic World movie, allowing you to easily recognize individual scenes from the movies. In addition to movie footage, we considered behind-the-scenes content and concept art as well as many additional files kindly provided by our partners at Universal Products & Experiences.
This detailed landscape is the foundation for over 250 unique models we've created, from the expansive monorail system to small yet authentic park clutter
These references helped us accurately position and scale the island’s key features, including the main park area, Gallimimus and Gyrosphere valleys, coastal mountains, Mount Sibo volcano, and the subdivision into the six official island sectors. We also incorporated additional landscape features based on the original Jurassic Park movie and the animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.
We placed a variety of tropical and subtropical biomes across the island: dense rainforest, palm groves, ridgeline shrubs, open grassland, etc.
Several of the movie scenes were shot in locations across the Hawaiian Islands. We gathered the corresponding real-world elevation data and spliced them into the appropriate locations of the island’s base terrain.
On Nublar, there are six of these real-world areas; can you spot them all?
ICONIC LANDINGS
As an add-on for a Flight Simulator, we obviously wanted to include a number of airstrips and helipads in interesting locations. Some of these are well known from the movies, like the Command Center helipad, the Jurassic Falls helipad, or the northeastern airstrip, others were selected and created based on secondary sources. We hope you find our (re-)creations worthy start and end points for your explorations.
As fans know, the Jurassic canon has a few gaps and contradictions. Our depiction of Isla Nublar is one of many possible interpretations, and we’re looking forward to lively discussions about our particular design choices.
