Jurassic World: Archipelago is an add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator containing the Jurassic World islands off the west coast of Costa Rica, including their iconic landmarks and prehistoric creatures. For the first time in the history of the Jurassic World franchise, you can explore Isla Nublar, Isla Sorna, and the entire Muertes Archipelago in spine tingling detail, and in your own time.
Set just before the events of the 2015 Jurassic World film from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, the islands are captured at a moment when the park is operational but not everything is under control. The landscape itself is much more than a pretty backdrop: it’s both a challenge for aviators and a journey of recreating your favorite movie scenes. Beyond Nublar, take the short flight to Isla Sorna and discover the sites and remnants of its past as “Site B” – and its resilient inhabitants. The other islands of the Muertes Archipelago are well worth exploring too, each different from the other.
Half a dozen airstrips and twice as many helipads await across the islands – some more familiar than others – but all interesting destinations of their own. For your flights to and from Costa Rica, we have included custom scenery at both Juan Santamaria Airport and Herradurda Bay Marina.
To accompany your free explorations, structured activities have you transport VIPs, take photographs on a guided tour, and practice your aviator’s skills in challenging locations.
Orbx, in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, is excited to welcome you on a new journey of Jurassic World: Archipelago discovery in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We do not have plans for a demo version at this time. However, we have an extensive range of official videos, tutorials, and partner streams on our YouTube channel that showcase the product in great detail to help with your purchase decision.
You can stay updated through our Discord server and Orbx Forums.
Orbx Studios is part of Orbx, an Australian-owned developer and publisher of add-ons for simulation platforms, used by consumers and businesses. Orbx is best known for its large catalogue of flight simulation products (orbxdirect.com) and it is now expanding into branded experiences and next-level storytelling, micro- and natural-interactions, and digital twins.
Just head to Orbx Support and open a ticket. Please include your userID, the product name, where you bought it, and any helpful screenshots.
First, you’ll need a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (MSFS2020) or 2024 (MSFS 2024), available on the Microsoft Store for PC and Xbox – via Game Pass or bought separately – as well as on Steam. The MSFS 2024 Standard Edition is sufficient for Jurassic World: Archipelago.
Once MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024 is installed, you can buy Jurassic World: Archipelago directly from the OrbxDirect website and download it through the free Orbx Central application. It is also available through the official MSFS 2024 in-game Marketplace. Note that the Xbox version of Jurassic World: Archipelago is only available through the MSFS 2024 in-game Marketplace.
While the core product is identical, purchasing through Orbx Central often allows for faster updates. We recommend checking our official forums and the Orbx website for any promotional offers that may be exclusive to OrbxDirect. The product will only be available for Xbox through MSFS Marketplace.
Yes, If you own the 2024 version and want to purchase the 2020 version, you are eligible to purchase the other sim for a small fee of $5. All you need to do is add the 2020 product to your cart and proceed with checkout.
Note: The option to purchase the other sim, whether it’s 2020 or 2024 is only available on the base scenery and does not include the bundles.
Additionally, this option is only available for purchases made through Orbx Direct and not Microsoft Marketplace.

Jurassic World: Archipelago 2024 is now available on the Microsoft Marketplace for PC and Xbox. The 2020 version will be available on the Microsoft Marketplace soon.
Yes, As of November 28, 2025 the product is compatible with both simulators. The 2020 and 2024 versions are separate products (non-interchangeable) available through Orbx Direct. Currently, only the 2024 product is available through the Microsoft Marketplace.

MSFS 2020 handles certain scenery elements differently to MSFS 2024, which means a few features only work in a reduced form in the 2020 version. For example, tree variety and detail is more limited, the tall grass area at the eastern Sorna airstrip (hiding velociraptors) isn’t available, and the custom Supply & Rescue missions aren’t supported. Moreover, the World Map uses a fixed satellite image meaning the fictitious Jurassic islands won’t appear in the flight planner.
You may also notice differences in how ground textures, biomes, and steep slopes render, as MSFS 2020 uses lower-resolution assets and doesn’t support procedural cliffs. Moreover, moving quickly across the terrain in Drone or Free Camera modes may temporarily cause dark tiles to appear.
Despite these technical limitations, the full Archipelago experience of all five islands, animated dinosaurs, activities, and POIs remains as exciting in MSFS 2020 as it is in MSFS 2024.
Our product is designed to integrate seamlessly with the Orbx ecosystem.
Absolutely. Orbx Central is independent of whether you own the Microsoft Store or Steam version of the simulator. As long as you have a valid MSFS 2020 or 2024 installation, Orbx Central will handle the installation correctly.
Yes, our add-on is compatible with VR. Note that the use of VR requires a more powerful PC with similar graphics settings as using a single PC monitor, and obviously your favourite pair of goggles.
We have optimized our scenery to provide the best possible balance between visual quality and performance. The product page on OrbxDirect lists recommended simulator settings, and we suggest following those for the smoothest experience.
Mouse & Keyboard: While not the ideal choice for MSFS in terms of handling aircraft, a good mouse and keyboard are still essential for navigating menus and interacting with the game world. You can use the drone camera quite easily if you just want to have a look around.
Joystick: MSFS can be enjoyed with a basic joystick, especially if you’re new to flight sims or on a budget. Two popular options with MSFS users are Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS.
HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick): Arguably the most essential peripheral for MSFS. A HOTAS will allow you to control your aircraft’s movement more precisely than you could with a keyboard and mouse or basic joystick. There are a variety of HOTAS options available, from budget-friendly models to high-end military jet reproductions. Popular choices include the Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS, Logitech G Saitek X56, and Virpil Constellation Alpha-C Grip.
Rudder Pedals: Rudder pedals allow you to control your aircraft’s yaw (steering). While not essential, rudder pedals will be helpful for more precise maneuvers, especially during takeoff and landing.
Head Tracking devices: Head tracking allows you to look around the cockpit and outside environment by simply moving your head. There are a few different head tracking options available, including TrackIR, which uses a webcam to track your head movements.
The Microsoft Flight Simulator is free as part of GamePass, if you have a subscription, or it can be purchased via the Xbox store and Steam.
For new users of MSFS, it’s recommended to start with the in-game tutorials and free flight mode on the world map to get familiar with the controls and basic flight principles. This YouTube tutorial by one of our Orbx creators demonstrates an extensive beginners guide for brand new simmers.
In addition to tutorials, you can also find community and developer support via our Discord server and Orbx Forums.
You can also use the drone camera for exploring the Archipelago if you want to skip the “flying” bit 😉
For PC users, installation is managed through Orbx Central. Install Orbx Central and create an Orbx account. After your purchase, the product will appear in your library within the Orbx Central application. Simply click “Install” and the software will handle the download and placement into the correct simulator directory.
Orbx Central gives you the flexibility to create a library folder on any drive you choose. This keeps your add-ons organized outside of the main simulator folder, which makes managing your installation much cleaner. You do not need to manually copy files into your Community folder.
Updates are delivered automatically through Orbx Central. You will receive a notification when a new version is available, and you can update with a single click. For Marketplace purchases, updates are delivered through the simulator’s Content Manager.
First, ensure the installation was completed successfully in Orbx Central and that you do not have any pending updates. Then, restart your simulator. If the issue persists, please check that the product is enabled in the simulator’s Content Manager. If you still have trouble, please contact our Support Team.
